Tinder Box Book w/Bulldog - A very nice little vintage book that measures just 2 x 3 inches and has 33 pages being published in Denmark."The Tinderbox" is a Danish literary fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen about a soldier who acquires a magic tinderbox capable of summoning three powerful dogs to do his bidding. When the soldier has one of the dogs, a Bulldog, transport a sleeping princess to his room, he is sentenced to death but cunningly summons the dogs to save his life. It was first published in C.1835 and the Bulldog plays a prominent part in the story. In addition to the Bulldog cover, it has very colorful prints on the inside front and back cover pages with bulldog in one of them. There are six additional color illustrations of which two feature the bulldog. I would guess it to be 1940’s or older and condition is very nice with some light rubs to cover edges. Back cover has a surface scuff and light soiling and inside back cover page has two water marks on edge and tiny tear near binding. It is very tightly bound with no fading and USA shipping is free.
