I purchased this nice Airedale dog from an antique dealer along with seven others of all different breeds. The dealer purchased them out of an estate and said the gentleman made them all himself. I have not ever seen them before so it could possibly be one of a kind but I'm not sure. It measures 3"L x 2 3/4"T and I was told it is a composition celluloid. It looks and feels amazingly like wood to me with very nice detail and definitely is not hollow but solid and lightweight. It is nicely detailed and has a stained gloss finish. Condition is very good with no chips or cracks. The staining is lighter in some areas but it is more pronounced in my magnified photos than it is in person and I believe the artist intentioned it that way. I've included a group picture of all eight breeds but note this auction is for the Airedale only.
