In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, it was considered very unfashionable for a lady to wear spectacles, so they used lorgnettes as a fashionable alternative. This lorgnette measures 6 inches in length, 1 ¼ inches in width, and has a height of ½ of an inch. This piece is in fair condition for its age. There are two repaired cracks. When opened, the spectacles don’t stay in place due to a loose screw. It has sterling silver with a gold wash and has English hallmarks. Reasonable price is based off condition.
