Fine quality early vintage grotto crucifix encrusted with seashells bearing a silver metal Crucifix from the 1930's. This souvenir seashell cross also has a metal plaque with "INRI" at the top (Latin-"Iesus Nazarenus, Rex Iudaeorum" ("Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews"). These items were brought home by travelers as Grotto art , which was once again experiencing another revival. It is backed in a decorative silver foil and underneath there is an old red inventory sticker on the bottom and a stamp which I can't make out "Made in ______" ?? 5 3/4" w x 4 1/4" d x 9 1/4" tall Condition consistent with age, remarkably I only see 2 broken shells.
