This vintage ring has recently been professional checked and polished and it's in MINT condition.
It is hand crafted out of solid platinum (marked) with knife edge band and four large fish tail prongs (around 1940's-1950's), of course the most interesting detail is the hand fashioned shanks or shoulders to mimic two baguette diamonds (a very good mimic I have to say!).
The ring features a center round cut unheated natural blue sapphire of super quality. This gemstone has natural deep rich blue color (not enhanced) and the hue changes somewhat under different lighting condition.
Under direct sunlight it displays a breathtakingly bright, pure, and vivid cornflower blue (see the first two photos), the color looks much darker in a dim light (see the last two photos). The rest of the time it looks somewhere in between (see all the other photos). The stone measures approx. 6.35mm by 6.32mm by 4.24mm, and weighs 1.45ct, it's a very clean stone too, approx. VS clarity.
This one of a kind engagement is currently a finger size 7-1/2, the head of the ring measures approx. 1/4 inches or 6.5mm across, it weighs approx. 4 grams.
