A lovely hand carved Victorian shell cameo depicting the beautiful maiden Daphne, with laurel leaves in her hair. Myth has it she was converted into laurel branches to avoid the pursue of Apollo.
The cameo is set in a solid 9K rose gold frame(marked 9ct), it can be worn as a brooch/pin or a pendant through the top loop. Both the T-C pin back and the loop are in good working order. There are a couple of lines to the right of the cameo, perhaps a natural color variation? There is also a tiny flea bite or shell imperfection under the rim of the frame at the top left corner, see the 2nd photo. Overall in good vintage condition.
Measures approx. 2 inches by 1 5/8 inches, a quite large piece, and FREE domestic SHIPPING as always!
