A very lovely antique Georgian sentimental (likely mourning) brooch, not marked but tested as 9ct rose gold, features beautiful closed foiled back black dot paste border, surrounding a center crystal cover, which protects a hand painted sepia miniature of a beautiful maiden standing by an large anchor, which is sign of hope.
Measures approx. 1-5/8 inches by 1 inch in very good condition. All paste stones are glittering like night starts, I don't see any damage other than some very minor surface wear which is expected for it's age. Under the loupe, the painting is still very sharp, vivid and refreshing, there are some dust went under the crystal cover, and some minor surface wear to the crystal cover.
This piece can be worn as a brooch or a pendant, the pin back is in good working order. An old initial was inscribed to the back, and a gold test mark to the edge of the back, which cannot be seen when worn. Weighs 9.5 grams.
Overall a very lovely piece for serious collectors!
