This is one of the most unusual and utterly beautiful piece, it dates back to the late Georgian or early Victorian ca. 1830-1840.
The brooch is crafted out of solid 9k yellow gold (tested) and loaded with TONES of sparkling pastes of all sorts of bright twinkling colors.
We have ruby red, emerald green, citrine honey yellow, and real garnet gemstones! Not unlike the assorted candies in the candy shop!
The center flat cut garnet is set in foiled closed back with a seed pearl in its center, the smaller old cut stones around it tested as genuine garnet gemstones. Other stones test as pastes.
The stones are all closet set into radiate circles with the outer most ornate scroll-type frame, decorated with very fine hand engravings.
The piece is quite large, measures 2 1/8" diameter, weight 12.3g.
There is a tiny bit of decorative ball missing from the out most frame (see the enlarged photo, you won't notice it unless mentioned), otherwise in EXCELLENT condition.
