A rare find! In IMMACULATE condition!
An antique Georgian ca. 1776 mourning yellow gold (not marked but tested to be at least 18K) ring, features a center locket with a lock of woven brown hair under a crystal cover, and solid round band covered with gold letters out of white enamel back ground. It reads (assume I read correctly): "Ann Hitch ob 18 July 1776 At 64". White enamel means the lady had never married, so she's still "pure" when passed away.
The ring head measures approx. 1/2 inches by 3/8 inches, the band tappers to 2mm at the back. It's a finger size approx. 6, weighs approx. 3 grams.
The condition is incredible, only very minor wear when observe under a loupe. For a 240 years old piece, it looks unbelievable stylish and sleek. I know it sounds a bit strange, but somehow the quality of the workmanship penetrates through the time. Would make a great addition to any serious collector!
