Talk about some Old School GLAMOUR!
So get ready to embrace some soft, sumptuous glamour, in the form of a beautiful vintage 1950's mink capelet! The fur is a lovely, deep chestnut-red and is lined in silky matching satin. It has a classic, mid century silhouette, with two hook and eye clasps (so you can decide how tightly to close it and whether or not you'd like to wear it with lapels, or create a tightly collared look), and a great pair of plastic-chain-and-bauble details near the closure. Simply gorgeous! This luxurious beauty will make you feel like a queen, the moment you slip it across your shoulders.
This capelet is in EXCELLENT vintage condition. The leather is still very soft and supple and the fur is glossy and full of its natural oils. There are no funky smells, etc. The only minor flaw found is a small repair to the lining, which can not be seen when the cape is being worn. Please see the last photo in the queue and ZOOM.
Sizewise, this cape is a One-Size-Fits-Most type scenario. It does have shoulder pockets formed into it, though, so I will list an approximate shoulder size below. For reference, the lovely Electra is 5'8" tall and a modern SMALL.
Shoulders-> up to 18" comfortably (including arms) Entire width, opened and laying flat in a crescent moon shape->39" Entire length, from the back of the collar to hem->14"
And here is a quote from the person we obtained this fur from, a bit of fun herstory-> "These furs were from my great Aunt Mara (my grandma's sister), who was born in Russia, and then married a U.S. doctor....they had a great life and traveled the world." Awe! I just love finding out about where vintage items have been, in their former lives.
We will be listing more of Aunt Mara's fabulous furs soon, so if you're a fan of Old School Glamour, then stay tuned...and remember, I only have ONE of each item, so if you love it, don't let it get away!
