What a darling French Mignonette in the most delightful antique candy box matching her adorable antique dress! This wonderful French child was probably created by Gaultier and she has so much expression in her dear little face. She stands 5 1/4" tall (her left leg is a bit longer than her right), she has bright blue inset glass eyes, closed mouth beautiful painted long lashes and single stroke brows. She has a nice quality bisque. She is marked 5/0. There are no hairlines or repairs and she has her original stringing and head stuffing. She has a couple small black beauty marks or spots on her left cheek (in the making).
This little cutie is on her original papermache French body with stringing at her arms and legs. She has painted long white socks and black one strap heeled shoes. The body has it's original paint. There is a surface crack on the back and going part way to the front of her right leg, but it does not appear to have gone through. These bodies tend to be a bit on the crude side, as these were little pocket dolls for little girls to carry around with them in their purses or pockets.
The darling mignonette is wearing a wonderful antique mignonette mint green cotton dress with original feather stitching and lace. There is a beautiful antique mint green trim at the bottom. She has cotton undies. Her long brown mohair wig is original and in it's original braid set. She is in a wonderful mint green antique candy box that matches her outfit perfectly. The box has a celluloid top with a lovely scene and gold metal finding and clasp. It is lined with a lovely red fabric (though a bit faded). The box measures 6 1/2" long, by 3"wide and 1 1/2" tall and is a treasure in it's own right.
What a precious FG mignonette in such a very special presentation! I adore her adorable little face! c. 1890
