What a rare and gorgeous Kestner! The Kestner Bru is very sought after and very difficult to locate. This is a lovely example of this elusive Kestner has brown glass set eyes surrounded by finely painted lashes and early feathered brows. She has an closed mouth with the tiny molded teeth, beautiful pale bisque and delicate coloring. She has the fat roll on the back of her neck. She has an antique blond mohair wig and her plaster pate. This lovely Kestner is only marked with the incised number 9. There are no hairlines or repairs. There is a very tiny eye flake on one lash on her lower left eye, it is small and barely noticeable. Her eyes appear to be in the original set but I can't be sure. She has a teeny pin sized dot on the right side of her nose, in the making.
This darling and rare Kestner is on her early straight wristed Kestner body with the famous droopy buttocks. This wonderful body has it's original finish and has just a bit of age wear but all in all, the kind of early heavy bodies that we all love.
She is wearing an adorable antique blue and white striped cotton dress with trims, antique underwear, shoes and shoe. She has a wonderful vintage straw hat. Her wig is antique and she has her plaster pate.
What an elusive and completely darling doll! A true testimony to Kestner's fine craftsmanship! c. 1890
