This is a very finely carved, detailed cameo brooch. A beautiful lady is the centerpiece for this very high relief cameo brooch. She is very finely carved with an elaborate hair style festooned with flowers. She possibly represents the Roman goddess Flora, the goddess of flowers. The brooch has an open back and the cameo has been beautifully bezel set into place. The setting has been engraved with an abstract vine design.
The setting is marked 10K Gold on the catch and has been tested. The clasp is an early C catch. This clasp dates the piece to around 1915 or so.
The cameo is in excellent vintage condition. The carving is deep and nicely done. There are no chips or flaws on the cameo. The setting is in excellent condition with only some very light wear on the reverse. The catch is in perfect working order. There is also a hinged bale that allows the piece to be worn as a pendant.
The cameo is 1-3/4" high by 1-3/8" wide.
