Trafari was one of the premier names in costume jewelry during the middle of the 20th Century. Excellent design, beautiful colors and quality workmanship were their trademarks. This three tier brooch is an amazing example of their craftsmanship.
The lowest tier of the brooch serves as the base. It is composed entirely of self-prong set blue rhinestones that are designed to look like sprays, or maybe ferns. The second tier is a single bright pink flower with a single dark blue aurora borealis stone at the center. The third and last tier is also a flower composed of bright green rhinestones with a single light blue AB stone at the center. A note about the stones - in my photo and in natural light, these stones are the colors as above. However, the stones are opaque and in different light, the stone colors change. As I sit here in my office, the brooch appears to be all blue, although the green flower as a slightly green cast.
The brooch is in very good condition. The rhodium plate shows no wear. The clasp is very tight and in perfect working order. It measures approximately 3" wide by 1-3/4" wide by 1/2" deep. It is signed on the reverse with the Trifari mark with a crown over the T and followed by the copyright symbol.
