A classic molded glass Czech piece from the 1920s - 1930s. This fierce looking dragon is coiled as if protecting something. He reminds of the dragon from The Hobbit, sitting on his gold. The dragon is molded glass which is probably from the Gablonz area of The Czech Republic. It rests on an elaborate brass setting of curlicues and flowers, reminiscent of the Art Nouveau era, so there's a bit of a crossover in style. An added touch is the small marcasites which are set at the center of the oval pin and at the center of each tiny flower.
The piece is in overall good condition. The brass has acquired an age patina. This could probably be polished up. All the marcasites are present. The brooch has a C Clasp but the pin stem is bent. The clasp still works, however. The glass dragon has no chips or flaws. It measures 2" by 1".
