The sensational foliate design on this Art Nouveau belt buckle makes it a stand out. Made during the early part of the 20th century, the silver tone metal actually looks like real silver on the face. The reverse gives it away, however as the base metal is clearly visible.
This buckle also has another interesting feature also. The tongue of the belt that you would expect to put through a hole, is fake. Instead, there is a hook on the reverse that would connect the connect to a loop in the fabric of the belt.
The condition is very good. The finish on the front shows some tarnish. It can be polished up to make it really shine. The reverse shows some wear and scratching. There is just a bit of the original fabric caught up on one side.
The overall size is 3-1/4" by 2." The opening is approximately 1-7/8" by 3/4"
