Around the turn of the century, it was popular to wear jewelry with photos of one's family. Although these are sometimes considered to be mourning jewelry, it's not always the case. This photo in this stick pin is of a young boy in a suit. Of course, the photo that's in there could easily be replaced with another.
The top of the stick pin is shaped like a shield. At the very top is a small, red rhinestone. The actual photo sits in a round frame within the shield. There are prongs on the back of the shield that hold the photo portion in place. As a result, there is some swivel between the shield and the photo.
The piece show some age discoloration and the original clutch is missing. The pin is slightly askew on the back. It measures 2-1/2" long by 5/8" wide.
