Franco Bonisolli was a voice student of the tenor Alfredo Lattaro. In 1961 he won the international vocal competition of Spoleto, after which he debuted at the festival there as Ruggiero in Puccini's La Rondine. In 1963 the composer Gian Carlo Menotti invited him to sing the role of the Prince in Prokofiev's The Love for Three Oranges at the Spoleto Festival. Franco Bonisolli became a member of the Vienna State Opera in 1968.
After making his USA debut in 1969 as Alfredo in La Traviata at the San Francisco Opera, Franco Bonisolli debuted at the New York Metropolitan Opera in 1971, singing the roles of Faust (Gounod), the Duke in Rigoletto, Alfredo in La Traviata, and Cavaradossi in Tosca, among others. These were followed by extremely successful guest performances on the great stages of Europe including Berlin, London, Hamburg, Milan, Rome, Lyon, Dallas, and Philadelphia…………….
