Rudolf Buchbinder was born in 1946 and was admitted to the Master Class of the famous Viennese piano teacher Bruno Seidlhofer at the age of eleven. On completing his studies, he began a concert career as a chamber musician and only later as a soloist. He currently performs in the major cities of Europe, the United States, South America, Australia and Japan, not only as a guest artist at many important festivals but also as a soloist with great orchestras and conductors.
Buchbinder's repertoire is extensive and includes numerous 20th century compositions.
He has devoted himself not only to the classic and romantic literature but he has also recorded rarely performed works such as the collection of "Diabelli" variations, one each, composed by 50 leading Austrian composers in response to a competition held in 1819 by the publisher Diabelli. He has also performed the complete Beethoven sonatas as a cycle in over 30 cities including Munich, Vienna, Hamburg, Zurich and Buenos Aires.
