Stunning antique French Empire silk embroidered sequin & bead fan purse in very good condition.
The fan purse measures 9 inches in length, 11 inches, width 3 inches. Authentic, with original silk pompom tassel.
It is embroidered on one side only & there is a double braided cord handle.
Along with the silk purse comes a beautiful 19th ct. fan.
It is a petal fan, also known as a Jenny Lind fan, made of pierced sandalwood and raised embossed carton paper. There is an engraving that has been hand coloured and a gold arabesque design on each petal.
Two staves are missing on the edges of the engraving and there is a bit of damage to one of the staves as can be seen in the photo. There is an oval ormolu vanity mirror on the main guard-stick.
It dates from circa 1860 and could use a light clean. It is a lovely and rare fan to find.
The guard-sticks measure 10 & 3/4 inches long and the fan when open is approximately 19 inches.
This lovely perfect antique French Empire fan purse is a rare find and though the fan has those small repairs it makes a very good match.
