Old Japanese Postcard: God FukurokujuOld Japanese Postcard: God Fukurokuju

Old Japan: God Fukurokuju with an umbrella.

Fukurokuju, is one of the 7 Japanese Gods of Good Fortune. He is in charge of health and physical strength. This postcard shows him with an extremely high forehead - a symbol of strength.

According to some, before attaining divinity, he was a Chinese hermit of the Sung Dynasty and a reincarnation of the Taoist god Hsuan-Wu. It is said that during his human incarnation, he was a sennin; a philosopher who could exist without eating food.

Some aging at the back side and some toning, slight corner knocks.
