Most attractive antique Chinese porcelain plate from the Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644).
Blue and white with a phoenix at the center and floral motives around.
This is a sea bottom find has the typical ware of a bottom finding including sand at the bottom. Literature gives some interesting info about these pieces. It could either be from the cargo of the Witte Leeuw, which sank off St. Helena in 1613 or of the Binh Thuan, a Chinese Junk which sank of the coast of Binh Thuan province in Southern Vietnam. This would be in the first half of the 17th century too.
