Attractive, original engraving by Kuenstlerhaus artist Alfred Cossmann, a highly regarded Austrian engraver and etcher. He studied at the Viennese Academy of Fine Arts under Professor Karger and Unger.
The graphic is titled “ Lebensregel “ ( Law of Life ) and reflects the life of “Augustin” a famous Viennese who managed to escape the pest.
This artwork really stands out when matted and framed and make a unique gift.

Cossmann ( 1870 – 1951 ) began exhibiting his engravings at the beginning of 19th Century and became a full member of the Vienna Kuenstlerhaus in1905.
Founding member of the Austrian Exlibris Society (1903). Rewarded the Golden State Medal (1913), the Emperor's Award (1916) and the Decoration of the Austrian Republic.
From 1920 – 30 he worked as Professor at the Graphischen Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt in Wien. Among his students were Karl Haselboeck, Friedrich Teubel, Hans Ranzoni, Hubert Woyty.
His book “ The Magic of Copper Etching” became standard literature.
