Vintage Retro Modern Made in Taxco Mexico Mexican Sterling Silver Abalone Hoop Earrings Pierced Earrings
Made in Taxco Mexico and dating to the 1960s or so, may I offer this stunning pair of sterling earrings featuring a large hoop with a glyph design at the bottom surrounded by inlaid panels of abalone. The original earwires were screwbacks however both were stripped and had to be replaced - I added shepherd hook earwires in their stead. Of course all that's needed to take them back to screwbacks is new findings. Condition of the pair is excellent with no chips to the enamel and no dents to the silver. Slab lines are visible in my photos and should not be confused with cracks. Laying down abalone pieces so that they are uniform on the silver surface is a delicate and time consuming process reflecting extreme precision on the part of the jeweler.
Metal Content is Sterling Silver with Hallmarks of Taxco, Hecho en Mexico, 925, along with makers initials that look like PL. No eagle hallmark.
Size is 1-11/16" wide x 1-1/2" high - Weight is 16 grams and a bit combined.
