Antique Edwardian French 800 Silver 900 Silver Mother of Pearl Religious Rosary Crucifix Pendant First Communion Easter
Made in France, C.1900 or so, here is a mother of pearl crucifix or cross pendant set with silver findings. This Edwardian (perhaps late Victorian) cross is a nice size for a lady's rosary - not too big, not too small. The silver ends are a stylized take on a Fleur de Lis. A cross perhaps given at Easter or Christmas or given to a young girl upon her First Communion.
Condition: Excellent with no problems I can spot - I did not polish the silver hence the appearance of a lot of tarnish; of course, this will disappear once a polish is done. Detailing is quite ornate on not only the corpus but also the ends. INRI is present. (Note: I photo'ed the piece before cleaning so forgive any specks you see - it's dust and dirt that is now gone.)
Metal Content: Being French either 800 or 900 Silver.
Hallmarks: One French poincon (punch mark) on the bale of the cross indicating silver content (very faint, but definitely present).
Size: From top of bale (not jump ring) to bottom measures 3"; width is 2-1/8".
Weight: 8.4 grams
Final Comments: Find the right chain or rosary to wear/utilize once more! They just don't make 'em like this anymore!
