Circa 1940 or so from Codan of Mexico City, Mexico, may I offer this Art Deco Revival - Danish Modern Revival 6 piece tea and coffee service in sterling silver and wood. The design to the pieces seems to be grapes and leaves with assorted curlicue swirls. The design is consistent throughout all the pieces. In detail, here are the particulars........

KETTLE WITH BURNER

-- Kettle - Handle is stationary. Lid is very tight - when the base expands with the heat, the lid fits in easily. No dents or dings. Wooden handle shows a dark spot to the right side - this might have been the original color of the wood. A good oiling would help the wood retain its color and keep it from drying out. Height from top of handle to bottom is about 14-1/2". Width, spout to back end is about 7-1/2". Weight is 1,431 grams. Hallmarked Codan Sterling Mexico on the base along with an Eagle 7.

--- Bottom Base for Kettle. No problems I can spot. Width across is 7-1/4" from foot to foot. Weight is 628 grams. Fully hallmarked on top spokes.

--- Top Piece that Holds Kettle. Fits correctly onto the bottom. No dents or dings. No markings anywhere - possibly silverplate though I am not sure. Has a width of 6-1/4" at the base with a height of 4-3/4" from base to top of arm. Weight is 489 grams.

--- Oil Burner. Fits correctly into the top piece. No dents or dings. Weight is 73 grams. Fully hallmarked on bottom.

COFFEE POT

--- Stands about 11 high x 8-3/4" wide, handle to spout. Weight is 1,135 grams. Lid is very tight - when the base expands with the heat, the lid fits in easily. Wood handle is slightly darker than the kettle - more than likely this is the color the entire set should be. One shallow dimple on one side of the pot - fairly flat, hard to spot. On the other side, just a light "smoosh" that is more invisible than the other dimple. Fully hallmarked on the bottom.

TEA POT

--- Stands about 8" high x 7-1/2" handle to spout. Weight is 951 grams. Lid is very tight - when the base expands with the heat, the lid fits in easily. Wood handle is slightly darker than the kettle - more than likely this is the color the entire set should be. No dents or dings - just a couple of squiggles (see below). Fully hallmarked on the bottom.

COVERED WASTE

--- Stands about 5" high x 5-3/8" wide handle to handle. Weight is 424 grams. Perfect fitting lid that lifts easily. One very shallow ding on one side next to a squiggle. Fully hallmarked on the bottom.

CREAMER

--- Stands about 4-1/2" high x 4-1/8" wide hadle to spout. Weight is 256 grams. Perfection! Fully hallmarked on the bottom.

SUGAR BOWL

--- Stands about 3" high x 3-1/2" wide at the top; at the base, 3-1/8" wide. Weight is 225 grams. Perfection! Fully hallmarked on the bottom.

Overall Condition: All the pieces have a fairly high shine but most need a polish. There is some tarnish on the inside, some on the outside and there are some light "squiggle/rubbing" scuffs in some areas of the pots. A good polish will take care of them but for sheer perfection of finish, a trip to a polisher is probably needed.

..............Total weight of the set = 5612 grams or 180.45 ounces. Wow!

Final Comments: Now in searching the Internet I found three sets, both with trays. First, the Replacement Site (last pic above is their set) at $17,999.00. Second, the Dibs site which sold theirs for around $12,999.00. Third, the crafty site that has the tray but not the kettle or waste at $9,380.

A lot of money, I know. But WHAT a collection of silver! And won't it be fun looking for the tray to complete this group! I've priced the set to sell (heck, with my price you can search for the tray and STILL beat the top sites price). I have to charge postage/insurance as it won't be refunded should the set be returned but just figure that into your offer (oh, and if my quote turns out to be wrong, I will refund the excess)! Packaging will be double boxed so it is going to be a costly and time consuming endeavor. Still, you want it all in one piece, right?

Go on, you know you want it!
