Antique Edwardian Art Nouveau French Ribbonwork Spray Passementerie Purple Ribbon Flowers with Stems and Original Paper Tag
Dating to the early 1900s up to maybe the 1910s or so, may I offer this splendid example of French Ribbon work. A grouping of 3 florals with 5 buds and green leaves, the floss wrapped spray still bears the original MADE IN FRANCE paper tag. The coloring of the florals as well as the composition suggest pansies but I am not entirely sure that they are. The florals are made of regular silk-like ribbon while the florals are wired green ombre.
Condition: Perfect! The florals need splaying out a bit but the piece is perfect with no fraying or holes or dangling threads. Patina is gorgeous!
Size: Roughly, 3-1/2" high from stem to top bud; width is about 3-1/2" as it is now positioned.
Final Comments: Breathtakingly gorgeous!
