Napoleon III French Religious Eglomise Panel Religious Easter Guardian Angel with Child
Dating to the late 1800s, may I offer this oval eglomise panel that might have been at the center of a small box or placed inside a frame that held small religious artifacts. The image depicted under the glass is of a Guardian Angel holding the hand of a young child (girl); the child holds an Easter Lily in her hand.
The image to the piece is preprinted in black ink and than handpainted on the underside. The frame appears to be brass and the glass is held in place with a cardboard backing and a lot of brass tabs that can easily be folded up and down.
Condition: Excellent with no problems I can spot - all it needs now is repurposing back into a box or frame.
Size: 2-1/2" high x 1-3/4" wide.
Final Comments: These small miniature pieces are extremely collectible and have their origins in France. When this piece finds its right setting, it will be complete!
