Antique Victorian 14K Gold Sawtooth Pearl Ring Engraved with Sentiment Inside the Shank
Dating to the late 1890s, may I offer this sweet yellow gold ring that holds a white sawtooth pearl at the center. What is interesting about the ring is that it appears to be American made but has what looks like an Italian sentiment engraved on the inside - Tusitata or Tusitat'a or Tulsitat'a - something like that. I could not find the meaning doing an Internet search so perhaps it is a term of endearment that didn't make it into a dictionary.
Condition: Very nice with no problems I can spot.
Metal Content: 14K Gold
Hallmarks: The only hallmark is the makers mark of S S (each letter within a diamond lozenge); possibly by Strauss & Strauss of Newark, NJ, makers of 10K and 14K and platinum rings. Metal was gently acid tested for 14K gold content.
Size: Ring size is 3 3/4 on my sizer. The design on the top measures 9/16" north/south x 5/16" wide. The pearl measures 5.5mm x 6mm.
Weight: 2.7 grams
Final Comments: Adorable! Perhaps a promise ring - maybe a gift to a child BUT whatever it is, it's an adorable piece of gold jewelry!
