Hand Sewn Handmade Wooden Bead Head Cotton Fabric Dress Country Girl Sugar Babe with Sunflower Wreath
Designed by Sandie Johnson in 1994 for Wood Yarn and Collectibles, I made this doll form the pattern I purchased back then. I went no further than the one item you see here.
Starting with a padded body, the head of this Sugar Babe (name bestowed by Ms. Johnson) is a handpainted wood bead. With mohair hair, cotton dress, a wreath of wood, legs of cotton and wooden wings, the backdrop of a straw bow helps to add "country" to this piece. The feet are painted black and have a plastic button on each shoe. There is a bit of string at the back so that this piece can be hung on a wall.
Height is about 8-1/2" ; width is about 7-1/2" at the bottom of the dress.
With the purchase of the doll I will also include the original pattern, supply list and instructions. Since I will not be making any more of this item, I do not need this information.
The doll is poseable and can sit in a chair or on a shelf. What is she? Well, a guardian angel for the crops? The farmers daughter? Who knows. But she is cute!
I honestly can't believe this girl is 25 years old - but she is!
