Antique Edwardian C.1902 English Sterling Silver Cherubs Napkin Ring William Comyns England Monogram M
Precisely dated to 1902, may I offer this silver napkin holder - napkin ring by William Comyns, London, England. The front of the ring has a shield upon which has been engraved the initial M. On either side of the shield is a cherub - putti - fairy - angel (no wings). Surrounding the piece is a lot of florals and curlicues.
Condition: Being vintage, there are light marks of use, storage and time . The patina is wonderfully warm and I try to only lightly polish for photos, the main polish I leave to the new owner. There are no major defects like dings, dents or ugly blemishes that might spoil the beauty of the silver but the seam joining the length together is apparent. The round is slightly out of kilter but not by much.
Metal Content: Sterling Silver with British hallmarks putting the piece at a C.1902 manufacture in London, England. The initials of WC are in another shield naming the maker as William Comyns.
Size: Height is 1-5/16"; width at the top is just under 2".
Weight: 29 grams
Final Comments: A VERY hard to find item by Comyns!
