Antique Arts & Crafts Jugendstil European Gun Metal Floral Pin
Dating to the early 1900s may I offer this European made gun metal pin with a stylish design around a central flower (daisy, I think). Simple c-catch at the back to hold the pin in place.
Condition: Not dark, dark black - more like something thought it was sterling silver and gave it a polish.
Metal Content: Gun Metal. Gunmetal, also known as red brass in the United States, is a type of bronze – an alloy of copper, tin, and zinc. Proportions vary by approximation but 88% copper, 8–10% tin, and 2–4% zinc is an approximation. Originally used chiefly for making guns, it has largely been replaced by steel.
Hallmarks: None that I can spot.
Size: 1-1/2" long x 1-1/8" wide. As is the norm with older c-catch pins, the pin peek out from the back.
Weight: 3.3 grams
Final Comments: Fabulous!
