Vintage Retro Modern Modernist Sterling Silver 14K Gold Stone Scarab Link Bracelet
Dating to the 1950s or so may I offer this modernist gold over silver link bracelet featuring carved semi-precious stone scarabs of Tigereye, Carnelian, Chalcedony, Onyx and Rose Quartz. The design was manufactured by Symmetalic, a W.E. Richards company. Fold Over catch to hold the bracelet in place. Condition is very nice with maybe just a touch of old age to the gold overlay - the coloring is quite pale and, I must admit, quite beautiful. There is on jump ring near the clasp so that some safety chain might be attached for added security.
Metal Content: Sterling Silver and 14K with Hallmarks of Symmetalic, Sterling Silver & 14K. What is more unusual is that under the fold over clasp are scratched in jewelers marks that read r-40, 3P1172, U1-. What they mean, I know not.
Size: Full length is about 7-1/4"; wearable length is 7".
Weight: 19 grams
Final Comments: "Symmetalic" was the top line of the W.E. Richards Company, Attleboro, Mass., exhibiting superior craftsmanship in the use of quality materials, in this instance, 14K Gold and Sterling Silver. The Symmetalic line was first presented in the mid 1930's and was discontinued by the 1940s. Why? Perhaps the manufacture of the pieces was too time consuming to make the profit the company needed to turn.
