Antique Edwardian Gold Mesh Sapphire Clasp Finger Purse Engraved MAG Dec 25, 1916
Dating to the early 1900s may I offer this gold tone metal mesh finger purse with a faux sapphire clasp. The purse features a finger ring at the top and is delicately engraved on the inside MAG Dec 25, 1916. Condition is very nice with no holes in the mesh and most of the gold coloring still present. The tassel does show a little more silvery than the rest of the bag but I think it's a nice look (I love the combination of silver and gold).
Metal Content: I want to say gold tone metal but with the tassel showing more silver, I am thinking that maybe the bag is gold washed silver with the finger ring appearing to be a gold colored brass. There is no hallmark other than SOLDERED MESH 13 and a makers mark I cannot for the life of me make out. It looks like EAC Co - definitely not Whiting & Davis or Mandalian.
Size: When closed, from top of sapphire to bottom of tassel measures 5-1/2"; width is 2" at the frame.
Weight: 29 grams
Final Comments: Adorable!
