Pair C.1875 Wood & Hughes, Angelo Pattern, Sterling Silver Demitasse Spoons
Manufactured by Wood & Hughes in 1875, here is a pair of sterling silver demitasse spoons in the Angelo (ornate Victorian Aesthetic) pattern. No monogram to the back of each.
Condition: Being vintage, there are light marks of use, storage and time. The patina is wonderfully warm and I try to only lightly polish for photos. There are no major defects like dings, dents or ugly blemishes that might spoil the beauty of the silver. If a high shine is desired, all that’s needed is another polish.
Metal Content: Sterling Silver
Hallmarks: W&H, Pat 1878, STERLING
Size: Length on a straight line is 4-5/8"; width at the bowl is 15/16".
Weight: 24 grams the pair.
Final Comments: Lovely!
NOTE: Because the item I am offering is from one of my consignors who "scraps" silver from customers seeking to upgrade their jewelry, I can and will beat anyone’s price on Ruby Lane. I want to turn over the silver inventory quickly so I can keep restocking my store with more. St. Louis was a boom city in the 1800s and the silver inventory here is legendary. For those who know, the 1904 World’s Fair held one of the largest competitions in silver design – all the big maker names of the day competed and a lot of the winning pieces stayed in St. Louis after the Fair ended. So keep watching my listings, I never know what I am going to have week to week – all I know is it will be varied, fabulous and deserving of a good home.
