Vintage Sterling Silver Souvenir Demitasse Spoon - Indian Totem Pole, Castle Kern Swiss Chalet, Skagway Alaska
Dating to the 1950s or so, may I offer this small silver demitasse souvenir spoon celebrating Skagway, Alaska. In the bowl is a depiction of the Castle Kern Swiss Chalet and on the handle is an Indian Totem Pole. The back of the spoon reads "Indian Totem Pole, Alaska".
Condition: Being vintage, there are light marks of use, storage and time. The patina is wonderfully warm and I try to only lightly polish for photos. There are no major defects like dings, dents or ugly blemishes that might spoil the beauty of the silver. If a high shine is desired, all that’s needed is another polish. For sheer perfection of look, then a professional polish by a jeweler will make the silver gleam!
Metal content: Sterling Silver with a Makers Mark (I do not recognize), STERLING
Size: Length on a straight line is 3-11/16"; width at the bowl is 3/4" approx.
Weight: 6 grams
Final Comments: Wonderful!
FINAL COMMENTS: When I can, I will beat anyone’s price on RL. I want to turn over the silver inventory quickly so I can keep loading in more. St. Louis was a boom city in the 1800s and the silver inventory here is legendary. For those who know, the 1904 World’s Fair held one of the largest competitions in silver design – all the big maker names of the day competed and a lot of the winning pieces stayed in St. Louis after the Fair ended. So keep watching my listings, I never know what I am going to have week to week – all I know is it will be varied, fabulous and deserving of a good home.
