Reed & Barton, Trajan Pattern, STERLING SILVER, Serving Spoon, Monogram D

Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST!

One of my consignors takes in a lot of silver flatware and hollow ware as part trade for sale of their jewelry. Some of the pieces are wonderful and I want to save as many as I can from being scrapped so I will be offering as many silver items I can.

Up for offer now…

AGE: C.1892

ITEM: From Reed & Barton in the Trajan pattern, here's a serving spoon with an OLD SCRIPT initial D on the reverse of the handle.

CONDITION: One dark spot of tarnish at the back of the bowl - a little elbow grease in the polishing will make it disappear. Also, being vintage, there are light marks of use, storage and time. The patina is wonderfully warm and I try to only lightly polish for photos. There are no major defects like dings, dents or ugly blemishes that might spoil the beauty of the silver. If a high shine is desired, all that’s needed is another polish. For sheer perfection of look, then a professional polish by a jeweler will make the silver gleam!

METAL CONTENT: Sterling Silver

HALLMARKS: Reed & Barton hallmark, STERLING, C.W. Anderson & Co

SIZE: Length is 8-5/16"; width at the bowl is 1-11/16".

WEIGHT: 64 Grams

RETAIL TODAY: Well, the replacement site does not have it and on the auction site, the lowest price I can find is $90. Seems this is a collectible bit of silver!

Anyone want?

FINAL COMMENTS: When I can, I will beat anyone’s price on RL. I want to turn over the silver inventory quickly so I can keep loading in more. St. Louis was a boom city in the 1800s and the silver inventory here is legendary. For those who know, the 1904 World’s Fair held one of the largest competitions in silver design – all the big maker names of the day competed and a lot of the winning pieces stayed in St. Louis after the Fair ended. So keep watching my listings, I never know what I am going to have week to week – all I know is it will be varied, fabulous and deserving of a good home.
