C.1880 Etruscan Revival 14K Gold and Persian Turquoise Brooch - Bar Pin
From the 1880s, here is a wonderful Victorian era pin/brooch of bright yellow gold and Persian Turquoise cabs. In an Etruscan Revival manner, the brooch has a lengthy silver pinstem at the back that tucks into a c-clasp that offers protection to the "point". The turquoise cabs have darkened with age giving the pin the "light and dark" look that is so coveted by collectors.
Condition: Practically perfect!! One turquoise cab (the end one near the pin hinge) has a tiny chip - looks like the pin was dropped in this area at some time in its life. Not visible with the naked eye and it might be hard to spot in my pics, it's that small.
Metal Content: 14K Gold
Hallmarks: As is the norm with Victorian jewelry made in the United States, none. Metal was gently acid tested for content. Pin stem is most likely silver.
Size: Length is 2-1/4" width, at the center, is 11/16".
Weight: 5.5 grams
Final Comments: A wonderful piece on antique jewelry!
