Gorham, Lancaster Pattern, STERLING SILVER, 2 Teaspoons, Monogramed, BLH

Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST!

One of my consignors takes in a lot of silver flatware and hollow ware as part trade for sale of their jewelry. Some of the pieces are wonderful and I want to save as many as I can from being scrapped so I will be offering as many silver items I can.

Up for offer now…

AGE: C.1897

ITEM: From Gorham, here's a pair of teaspoons in the Lancaster pattern - lovely florals at the top with a beaded edge. At the top of the handle, a monogram, script, of the initials BLH. I love these initials as they definitely stand for the Beautiful Lady of the House!

CONDITION: Being vintage, there are light marks of use, storage and time. The patina is wonderfully warm and I try to only lightly polish for photos. There are no major defects like dings, dents or ugly blemishes that might spoil the beauty of the silver.

METAL CONTENT: Sterling Silver

HALLMARKS: S T (designers initials?), Gorham hallmarks, STERLING, HJ Howe (retailer)

SIZE: Length is 5-5/16"; width at the bowl is 1-1/8".

WEIGHT: 35 grams combined

RETAIL TODAY: The replacement site wants $21.99 each (no monogram); the auction site sells them unmonogramed for anywhere from $10 to $20 each however, a monogram does command a premium so I think I will stick to my very fair price as BLH is a lovely monogram.

Anyone want?

FINAL COMMENTS: When I can, I will beat anyone’s price on RL. I want to turn over the silver inventory quickly so I can keep loading in more. St. Louis was a boom city in the 1800s and the silver inventory here is legendary. For those who know, the 1904 World’s Fair held one of the largest competitions in silver design – all the big maker names of the day competed and a lot of the winning pieces stayed in St. Louis after the Fair ended. So keep watching my listings, I never know what I am going to have week to week – all I know is it will be varied, fabulous and deserving of a good home.
