Modernist STERLING SILVER Pin - Enamel, A Dragsted, Denmark, Biomorphic

ITEM: From the Copenhagen, Denmark firm of A Dragsted, here's a silver pin in an abstract - biomorphoc - amoeba like pin/brooch featuring blue and white enamel. Safety catch at the back to hold the pin in place. In checking the Internet, it seems that this piece, as well as others of a similar design, are among the most coveted pieces of jewelry from the jewelry firm. One pin, currently on another site, has an asking price of $750!

CONDITION: Excellent! Enamel is all original - no repairs. Pin catch works as it should.

METAL CONTENT: Sterling Silver

HALLMARKS: STERLING (Dragsted Hallmark - Crown over AD) DENMARK on a back line of the pin.

SIZE: 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" approx.

WEIGHT: 10.9 grams

FINAL COMMENTS: A Dragsted is a major Danish jeweler - jewelers to the Royal Courts of Denmark, Greece and Russia. The first was founded by Arent Nicolaj Dragsted (1821-1896); its major designer was Aage Dragsted (1886-1942). The firm was responsible for launching many notable Danish silversmiths to the public including Anton Rose, Arno Malinouski and Karen Strand. The company is still in business today, testament to its fine quality work.
