Pair ANTIQUE VICTORIAN Trade Cards - Lady & Gent by a Stream, Fishing, Trout
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST!
Both Art and I love paper and with Art’s collection from the past 50 years and my collection from the last 30 years, we have a lot of ephemera to offer on Ruby Lane. It is going to take some time to get it all listed, but when we finish, there should be something to tempt anyone who visits the shop. Up for offer now…..
AGE: C.1880 or so
ITEM: A pair of Victorian era trade cards - one blank with a cropped top edge; the other, full sides, for J&P Coats Threads - sold at the Charles F. Sprague Dry Goods emporium. The image to both cards is the same, that of a lady sitting on a blanket with a sewing basket beside her (filled with thread, of course) and her gentleman friend just landing a trout in the stream. An 1880 calendar on the backs of each.
CONDITION: Very nice with no problems I can spot (other than the top missing edge on the unprinted card).
NOTE: The cards always look better in person than in my scans/photos.
PUBLISHERS INFORMATION: Donaldson Brothers, Five Points, N.Y.
SIZE: 3-1/4" x 4-1/2" approx.
FINAL COMMENTS: A wonderful pair!
FURTHER NOTE: I can put an awful lot of paper into one envelope so be assured, if you buy more than 1 piece of paper, I will adjust the postage once I receive the purchase order. And please, don’t pay until I HAVE revised the postage. Thanks.
