Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer for your consideration....
AGE: C.1890 or so
ITEM: A silver and enamel serving fork by French & Franklin. A rare design, the server features blue enamel and and intricate openwork design which includes a Griffin at the top.
CONDITION: Very nice. All the places that should have blue enamel dots do have blue enamel dots though there might be a short edge or small flea bite. I see only one small chip in one dot and since it doesn't go right to the silver, it is invisible to the naked eye unless louped. If restoration is desired, I am more than happy to pass on the name of my enamel restorer who will make this piece "as new". Silver needs a bit more of a polish as tarnish is visible.
METAL CONTENT: Sterling Silver
SIZE: Length from end to end on a straight line is 8-1/2"; width at the handle top is 1"; width of the fork is 1-3/4".
WEIGHT: 59 grams
FINAL COMMENTS: 1 of 3 pieces I was lucky enough to find!
