Antique Edwardian 14K Gold & Cultured Pearl Bar Pin in Original Box
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer….
AGE: C.1900 or so
ITEM: Art found this sweet bar pin at a local estate sale in the box you see in my pictures. Made of yellow gold, the pin has a twisted border and at the center, 3 creamy pears with 3 dots of gold. At the bottom is a small loop with a jump ring that might have held a medal, a heart or some other memorable token. Plunger closure indicating an old manufacture.
CONDITION: Very nice with no problems to the pin. The center pearl has a circular blemish that is invisible to the naked eye - think the rings on a tree trunk and you get the idea. The blemish might be from wear though I don't think so and if it was formed in the oyster, then the pearl, rather than being cultured, is natural and it's just the way the nacre was formed.
METAL CONTENT: 14K Gold
HALLMARKS: None that I can spot - Antique Jewelry of an American manufacture was not necessarily hallmarked. Metal was gently acid tested for content.
SIZE: Length is 1-1/8"; width is about 5/16".
WEIGHT: 3.3 grams
FINAL COMMENTS: Yes, you do get the lovely blue velvet box with the pin!
