2 VINTAGE European 18K Gold, Ruby, Diamond & Enamel Floral Pins/Brooches!
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST!
Ask any dealer and they will say they want to move items so that they can go out and buy MORE. I’m just the same, I’ve got an itch to buy that CONSTANTLY needs scratching. Sometimes I think I want to buy more than sell but as my father keeps telling me :you’re a dealer, Rob, not a collector.” So on that note, and with the upcoming holiday season looming, I am going to turn over some old inventory to make room for new AND if you see this message at the top of my listings, I am pricing the offering at my rock bottom (original asking price when first listed is shown), let it go, no regrets price. No offers – no dickering – just a price where I make a little profit so I can go shopping for bigger, better and fresh!
So up for offer now….
AGE: C.1920 or so - possibly earlier.
ITEM: From Europe, here's a pair of yellow gold and enamel pins - flowers/flowers - set with rubies and a diamond center. One brooch is small with a single leaf while the other pin is a bit larger and bears no leaf. The design of the two pins is the same - an interpretation of a diamond or perhaps, maybe, an Edelweiss. Both pins have plunger clasp closures to hold the pin in place.
CONDITION: The large pin is pretty much perfect though there is a slight "shaving" to the enamel on one leaf. The smaller pin does show some chipping to the white enamel as well as some lines. Now all this shows under a 10X loupe AND my photos (since they have been blown up) but when you look at the pins with the naked eye - nothing seems amiss. You'd have to get your nose right up into the pin to see anything. Now I do have the name of a restorer of enamel and I will be more than happy to provide that to the Buyer should he/she want perfection. But for those purists out there, I have marked the pieces accordingly so that they might find a good home quickly.
METAL CONTENT: 18K Gold
HALLMARKS: Each pin has a mark on the back that is hard to make out but I believe the top mark is the makers symbol while the bottom is 750 (18K Gold). Note that the pinstems are of either white gold or platinum.
SIZE: The smaller pin measures 1-1/2" x 3/4". The larger pin measures 2-1/16" x 1".
WEIGHT: The smaller pin weights 6.4 grams while the larger 8.9 grams.
GEMSTONES: The rubies number 12 in total and are about 1.5mm each (1.5 points). The diamonds number 2 and measure 2mm each (3 points). Total weight to the pair of pins is .24CT TW approx.
FINAL COMMENTS: An adorable set that can be worn in any manner of ways!
