Adorable FRENCH Gold Filled Charm/Medal (ORIA) - Young Girl at First Communion
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer….
AGE: C.1920 or so - Art Deco period
ITEM: This particular offering of mine came straight off a "sample sheet" of medals that a salesman would have carried with him to show to potential jewelry dealers. The religious charm offered here is a lovely depiction of a young girl upon her First Communion. Plain back. Just gorgeous!
CONDITION: Overall, a very nice front. The back of the medal has just a touch of "something" at the back bottom of the pendant (I have cleaned off a bit of it so it is dirt and not wear).
METAL CONTENT: Gold Filled Content.
HALLMARKS: ORIA on the bale along with another mark I do not recognize. Note: Oria is a mark similar to the French trade name FIX. Both makers specialised in heavy gold filled jewellery which would deceive an onlooker into believing it was genuine gold through and through. The metal, and top "bloom" of 18K Gold, make the piece practically perfect, hardly EVER showing wear due to its thickness and durability.
SIZE: Medal, without bale or jump ring, measures 5/8" approx high/wide - slightly larger than the last medal I had on offer (which has sold).
WEIGHT: 1.2 grams
FINAL COMMENTS: Just needs a chain or the right charm bracelet.
