Edwardian FRENCH SILVER Award Medal/Pendant for the Musical Arts
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer....
AGE: Dated 1917
ITEM: From France, a silver vermeil (gold washed) medal or pendant that I believe represents an award for performance in the musicals arts. The front depicts a laurel wreath, a lyre (harp), a mask, a scroll, and a shield with the initials JV on the inside. At the top of the piece is a star with shining rays. The back of the medal is engraved "Aan Mej Mapia Satens 14-1-17."
CONDITION: Very nice with a real mellow look and feel to the piece.
METAL CONTENT: Being French, either 800 or 900 silver.
HALLMARKS: None that I can find. Metal has been acid tested for content.
SIZE: From top of bale (not jumpe ring) to bottom measures 1-3/16"; width is 7/8".
WEIGHT: 3.5 grams
FINAL COMMENTS: Just needs the right setting to show it off properly!
