Heinrich Levinger Jugendstil 900 SILVER, Enamel & Glass Pearl Pendant/Lavaliere
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer....
AGE: C.1900 or so (Edwardian/Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts/Jugendstil)
ITEM: Found in France, here's a lovely pendant/lavaliere made of silver and featuring a lovely enamel front panel (aqua guilloche [engine turned] background with a handpainted floral motif and foiled gold star at the center), a split pearl at the center of the bow and a nice glass pearl drop at the bottom. The back of the pendant is plain save for partial hallmarks.
CONDITION: Very nice with a tiny bit of wear to the glass pearl - nothing that can be spotted with the naked eye. Enamel is perfect with no problems.
METAL CONTENT: 900 Silver (the silver content most commonly used by Levinger).
HALLMARKS: Lots of marks on this piece! First, the back. Though worn with time, if you look closely under a 10X loupe you can spot DEPOSE, 900 and then a partial hallmark for the silversmith Heinrich Levinger (HL in a box). There is also an impressed hallmark at the center of the bow section to the back as well as a poincon on the bale (sorry, my camera could not pick up these marks).
SIZE: From top of ribbon to bottom of pearl measures 1-5/8"; width is 7/8".
WEIGHT: 4.8 grams
FINAL COMMENTS: Ready for a new chain (mine's just for show).
