1950s Mexican STERLING SILVER & Abalone Inlay Earrings by Miguel

AGE: C.1950 or so
ITEM: From Mexico, a pair of silver and abalone drop earrings for pierced ears by Miguel Garcia Martinez, Taxco, Mexico. The earrings are extremely modernistic with a play on a "comet" design. True left and right earrings. Earwires are Shepherd Hooks with ball fronts.
CONDITION: Very nice with a mellow patina to the silver. Inlay is intact.
METAL CONTENT: Sterling Silver
HALLMARKS: MOT_ TASCO (Eagle Mark -number obscured) 1109 on one earring; MIGUEL in a handwritten script on the other. Miguel worked for Rancho Alegre for a spell. but I do not know if these earrings were made during the time he was with the firm.
SIZE: Drop only measures 1" long x 13/16" wide. From top of ball to bottom of earwire is an additional 1/4" of length.
WEIGHT: 8.6 grams combined
