Interesting SILVER Medallion/Pendant from France - Medieval Herald
Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer for your consideration....
AGE: C.1940 or so
ITEM: A solid silver or possibly silverplate (although a magnet does not stick) medallion/pendant that I suspect was originally meant to be a top to a box or perhaps attached to a piece of wood to be made into a pendant. Well, as it is is, it's pretty cool.
The design is of a page boy/herald blowing on a lengthy horn (with pennant). Very medieval, make that French medieval in appearance.
CONDITION: Excellent with a dark patina to the silver.
METAL CONTENT: Silver or silverplate
HALLMARKS: None that I can spot. Metal tests as silver but content is indeterminate. But the coloring will stay the same for a long time.
SIZE: 2-1/16" high/wide
WEIGHT: 6.8 grams - lightweight piece which means if too much pressure is applied, the piece will bend.
FINAL COMMENTS: A very interesting pendant to be left as is or reconfigured into another design.
