Vintage Postcard - May You Have Peace and Plenty

Welcome to ROBINS NEST MIDWEST! May I offer….

AGE: Dated 1910

ITEM: A highly colored, lightly embossed postcard featuring a banner at the center upon which the phrase "May You Have Peace and Plenty"; pale pink background which doesn't really translate from my scanner. At the lower right of the card is a swastika - the symbol, at the time of the printing of the card, of Good Luck! Further elaboration: The swastika (from the Sanskrit word Svastika) or equilateral cross, in early days, was the symbol of prosperity and good fortune. It was a symbol seen as good (not evil) throughout the ancient and modern world. It was only when you-know-who took this Good Luck icon and applied it to his organization that a good symbol turned bad.

CONDITION: Very nice front (light corner wear) - pencil and stamp on the reverse.

HALLMARKS: No. 896 - no Printer name.

SIZE: 3-1/2" x 5-1/2"

FINAL COMMENTS: A very collectible post card - PC - postcard!
